Mustafabad MLA and deputy speaker of Delhi Assembly, Mohan Singh Bisht, has expressed deep concerns over the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) inadequate response to illegal multi-storey constructions in his area.
This outcry comes after a tragic incident in April where eleven individuals lost their lives, and many others were injured due to a four-storey building collapse in the Dayalpur region.
Bisht highlighted that Mustafabad's densely populated communities are primarily comprised of economically weaker sections. He cautioned that these unauthorised constructions, often rising five to six-storeys high on plots as small as 50 square yards, pose significant safety risks, especially in the event of minor earthquakes, potentially leading to catastrophic loss of life and property.
