Stocks Soar Amid Optimism over Apple and MCD's Earnings Boom
U.S. stocks climbed on Wednesday, driven by Apple's announcement of a $100-billion domestic manufacturing pledge, and positive earnings from major companies like McDonald's and Arista Networks. Despite tariff uncertainties, investor sentiment remained high, with expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut. Notably, Advanced Micro Devices and Super Micro Computer shares slumped due to poor data center results.

U.S. stocks experienced a significant uptick on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq leading a more than 1% rise. The surge was predominantly driven by a 5.1% increase in Apple shares following its announcement of a substantial domestic manufacturing commitment. This promise added fuel to the optimism in the major indexes, which were already buoyed by robust earnings reports from top companies.
Among the strong performers, McDonald's shares climbed by 3% as their value menu boosted global sales, surpassing expectations. Meanwhile, Arista Networks saw an impressive 17.5% jump, thanks to forecast-beating revenue estimates for the current quarter. However, not all companies shared in the day's gains. Advanced Micro Devices and Super Micro Computer suffered losses due to disappointing data center segment results, with shares plummeting by 6.4% and 18.3% respectively.
The market's bullish sentiment was also supported by growing expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate cut in September, spurred by slowing employment growth reports. As investor focus shifted towards President Trump's potential Fed appointee, the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all reflected positive gains, reinforcing the day's optimistic outlook.
