Central Secretariat Service (CSS) officers have expressed significant concerns regarding the open office layout of the newly-inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan. They argue that this design could potentially compromise confidentiality and efficiency, essential for the analytical nature of their work.
In a formal letter addressed to the prime minister's principal secretary, the CSS Forum highlighted that the layout affects critical thinking and the discreet handling of sensitive information. The building, the first in a series of ten central government structures, lacks the spatial separation needed for effective departmental function.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the building, which will house key ministries. However, CSS Forum warns that the open space, with its low partitions, poses a risk to privacy, particularly in sections dealing with sensitive topics. The current setup may hinder necessary confidentiality and critical responsibilities.
