UK Expands 'Visa Fraud Ton Bacho' Campaign to Combat Scams in Punjab and Haryana

The British High Commission has announced the extension of its 'Visa Fraud Ton Bacho' campaign, targeting Punjab and Haryana to tackle visa scams more effectively. In partnership with Indian authorities and local stakeholders, the campaign will focus on heightening awareness of visa fraud risks through various channels.

To improve information access, the UK has launched a Punjabi-language WhatsApp chatbot with a new QR code for easy guidance on recognizing scam tactics. This move aims to simplify the distribution of official guidance to those looking to migrate legally to the UK.

According to Daniel Sherry, Political Counsellor at the British High Commission, the expansion underscores a commitment to protecting vulnerable populations from fraud. The campaign will disseminate information widely via social media and rural community engagement, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Punjab and Haryana.
