The Calcutta High Court has granted interim protection to Mithun Chakraborty, an actor-turned-politician, preventing any coercive action against him in a case regarding unpaid dues filed at Chitpur police station. This protection stands until September 10.
Justice Jay Sengupta permitted the ongoing investigation, despite shielding Chakraborty from coercive measures for now. The case, which is set for a hearing again on September 3, involves allegations of unpaid bills for interior decoration services promised by Chakraborty for a hotel property.
The complainant asserts that promised payments, totaling approximately Rs 35 lakh, have not been made by the hotelier. Chakraborty filed for quashing the FIR, arguing that the allegations are false and motivated while seeking interim protection.
