In a significant move against malpractice in LPG distribution, Punjab's Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Lal Chand Kataruchak, conducted surprise inspections at gas agency godowns in Sirhind on Wednesday. His raids exposed significant discrepancies in the weighing scales used by these agencies.
The minister emphasized that the exploitation of LPG consumers through such malpractices will not be tolerated. He assured them that the state government has mandated strict measures to halt financial exploitation and harassment of gas consumers.
Kataruchak urged consumers to verify the weight of their gas cylinders upon delivery. He also directed officials to take stringent actions against agencies defying the prescribed norms, sending a clear message of zero tolerance towards any ongoing malpractices.
