In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Mumbai airport customs seized over 14 kg of hydroponic weed valued at Rs 14.5 crore. The discovery was made in the early hours of Wednesday.
The operation was carried out by the Airport Commissionerate of the Mumbai Customs, targeting a passenger who had just arrived from Bangkok. Spot profiling led the officials to intercept the individual for further investigation.
Upon examining the passenger's luggage, customs personnel found the high-value illicit drug concealed within a trolley bag. The passenger is now in custody, facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
