Breakdown of Law and Order in West Bengal: BJP's Stern Critique

The President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, J P Nadda, on Thursday, articulated strong criticism towards West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, concerning the attack on the convoy of Suvendu Adhikari, the state's Leader of Opposition. Nadda alleged that the incident, which occurred in the presence of state police, starkly highlights the collapse of law and order within Banerjee's administration.

Nadda stated that Mamata Banerjee should be held responsible for nurturing a culture of 'lawlessness and political violence' in the state, a sentiment he expressed via a social media post on X. The incident occurred during a BJP rally aimed at shedding light on crimes against women, where participants were reportedly attacked with stones and confronted with black flags by certain local elements on Wednesday.

The BJP has pointed fingers at the ruling Trinamool Congress party workers for instigating the unrest. Nadda condemned the attack, emphasizing its significance as not only an affront to an elected representative but also a direct attack on democratic principles. He remarked that if the Leader of Opposition isn't secure, it paints a grim picture for the safety of ordinary citizens.
