Diplomatic Calls Surge Following U.S.-Russia Summit
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov engaged in diplomatic discussions with his Turkish and Hungarian counterparts following the U.S.-Russia summit. The conversations aimed at assessing outcomes and exploring potential peaceful resolutions to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Despite no deal emerging from the summit, diplomatic channels remain active.

In the aftermath of a significant yet inconclusive summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov intensified diplomatic efforts by engaging in talks with Turkish and Hungarian foreign ministers. These discussions underscored the ongoing quest for a peaceful resolution to the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.
Among the key calls, Lavrov and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed their perspectives on the high-level meeting's outcomes. Positioned as a potential mediator, Turkey remains committed to maintaining open channels with both Russia and Ukraine, leveraging its unique stance as a NATO member.
Similarly, Lavrov's conversation with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto reflected Hungary's hopes for a peaceful resolution. Despite its close ties with Russia and criticism from EU allies, Hungary has consistently advocated for security in Central Europe, postulating that the world is a safer place following the Trump-Putin dialogue.
