The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police is delving into the complexities of an MLA horse-trading case, considering lie-detection tests on certain suspects, a senior officer disclosed. The investigation comes on the heels of allegations surrounding a crucial February 2024 trust vote.
Significant figures, including former RJD MLA Bima Bharti and BJP legislator Mishri Lal Yadav, have been questioned by investigators. According to Deputy Inspector General Manavjit Singh Dhillon, some suspects failed to provide satisfactory answers, prompting a deeper investigation that may involve lie-detection methods.
The probe was initiated following an FIR filed by JD(U) MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar who claimed he was offered Rs 10 crore and a ministerial position to switch allegiance to the RJD. The case highlights ongoing political turbulence, marking a pivotal moment after the NDA secured the trust vote earlier this year.
