The Gujarat state government announced the formation of an Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) to curb drug-related activities by setting up six specialized units. The task force will operate in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and the border zone, targeting the sale, trafficking, and production of drugs statewide.
Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi emphasized the task force's commitment to engage in 'cutting-edge' operations against drug mafias and networks. With a team of 177 personnel, including senior police, deputies, and inspectors, the ANTF will function under the directive of state CID-Crime.
These units will also incorporate a data analysis and intelligence module to process information on criminal activities, syndicates, and interstate offenders. Through systematic investigations, the ANTF aims to ensure stringent penalties for violators, effectively disrupting drug networks.
