The Karnataka High Court nullified the election of Congress MLA K Y Nanjegowda for the Malur constituency, citing vote count irregularities. The court granted a 30-day stay on its order, allowing Nanjegowda to appeal to the Supreme Court. The recount could vacate his seat if unchallenged.

The Karnataka High Court has overturned the election of Congress's K Y Nanjegowda for the Malur constituency following allegations of counting irregularities. The decision comes after an election petition by BJP's KS Manjunath Gowda, who challenged the initial outcome.
A bench led by Justice R Devadas ruled in favor of a recount, deeming the 2023 state assembly election results void. Nanjegowda is granted a 30-day interim relief to appeal to the Supreme Court, potentially stalling the recount.
If the Supreme Court does not intervene within the 30 days allotted, Nanjegowda risks losing his seat as the order mandates a vote count reassessment, challenging his victory.
