In an audacious escape, Ateeq Ahmad, a 22-year-old booked under the Gangster Act, fled from police custody in Bhadohi on Tuesday. Ahmad, a resident of Alampur, faced ten serious criminal charges, including under legislation aimed at curbing organized crime.
The incident occurred when Ahmad was brought before a juvenile justice court concerning an old case. Around 1 pm, he eluded police officers to make his getaway, confirmed ASP Shubham Agrawal.
Immediately following the escape, the two sub-inspectors escorting Ahmad were suspended. Five police teams have been organized to capture the fugitive, and legal proceedings have been initiated against both him and the officers.
