The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) announced the successful confiscation of 108.67 kg of hydroponic weed during nationwide operations over the past 20 days. These actions form part of the ongoing initiative known as 'Operation Weed Out', aimed at clamping down on narcotics smuggling.
A major seizure was carried out at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, capturing 39.2 kg of hydroponic weed from two Indian nationals arriving from Bangkok. This led to the arrest of three individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985.
Further operations saw DRI intercepting additional smuggling attempts, catching 7.8 kg of the illicit substance en route from Bangkok. The agency continues to target drug traffickers across India, with significant confiscations in cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, and Kolkata.
