A yoga trainer identified as Niranjana Murthy faces serious charges of sexual harassment involving a minor girl, leading to his arrest, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
Murthy, who has been associated with the Karnataka Yogasana Sports Association, allegedly harassed a 17-year-old during a 2023 Thailand trip and continued the misconduct at his Sunshine Institute in 2024, police reported.
The victim, who lodged a formal complaint, claims Murthy promised her rewards for yoga competitions while making inappropriate advances. A case under the POCSO Act has been filed, and Murthy, who initially fled, is now in police custody with investigations ongoing.
