The Election Commission of India (ECI) has categorically refuted the allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who accused the commission of facilitating 'vote chori'—illegitimate vote deletion. The ECI confirmed that no member of the public can delete a voter's name online, dismissing Gandhi's claims as incorrect and unfounded.
Gandhi had also launched allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, claiming 10 percent 'proof' of Kumar allegedly protecting vote manipulators. However, the ECI has labeled these accusations as baseless, asserting full integrity of the electoral processes.
The poll body acknowledged attempts to delete votes in the Aland Assembly Constituency were thwarted, resulting in a formal investigation initiated by the ECI itself. Despite these incidents, the ECI reassured the public of its commitment to transparent and legitimate electoral practices, countering repeated claims from the opposition about vote fraud.
