The Puducherry Assembly's one-day session descended into chaos on Thursday, lasting just 45 minutes before being adjourned sine die. During the session, Speaker R Selvan paid tribute to notable figures, but proceedings quickly stalled as opposition DMK and Congress MLAs staged a sit-in protest.
The opposition criticized the session's brevity, arguing crucial issues were overlooked. Leading the protest, opposition leader R Siva highlighted urgent matters like inadequate drinking water and healthcare coverage. Independent member G Nehru also expressed frustration over limited discussion time.
Despite the protests, the Assembly passed several important bills and endorsed recent GST reforms, which are hailed as beneficial for citizens and local economies.
