A tragic discovery was made in Odisha's Bhadrak district when a nine-year-old girl's decomposed body was found after she had been missing for five days. The search team, including the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and the Fire Services department, located her remains near a canal, just 400 meters from her home in Adia village.
According to police reports, the young child was allegedly abducted by two unidentified motorcyclists while walking with her elder sister on September 14 at around 7:30 pm. The incident left the girl's elder sibling in shock, compelling her to rush home and inform their mother, who is hearing impaired. Overwhelmed by the news, the mother fainted, prompting neighbors to alert local authorities.
Upon his return from a fishing trip, the girl's father, Sadanand Mallik, learned of his daughter's abduction. The local community, armed with flashlights and sticks, organized a search effort. Meanwhile, law enforcement initiated a detailed investigation, with Bhadrak SP Manoj Kumar Rout indicating that preliminary investigations suggest the possibility of murder. The body has been transferred to the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for post-mortem examination.
