Security forces launched an intensive search operation on Wednesday in a densely vegetated nursery near the International Border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation is a joint effort by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), officials confirmed.
The search, located in the Dholka-Sanyal nursery area along a suspected infiltration route, began around 3 PM. Official sources stated that the operation was ongoing at the time of the latest reports, underlining the high-stakes nature of the mission.
In March, a significant encounter took place in the same nursery where security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt by a heavily-armed group linked to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad. The operation ended with the elimination of three terrorists and came at the cost of four brave police personnel who lost their lives.
