In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five senior officials from the Chhattisgarh government. These arrests are tied to allegations of favoritism in the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) Exams of 2021 and 2020, shedding light on potential large-scale corruption.
The individuals arrested include Jeevan Kishore Dhruv, former secretary of CGPSC, his son and Deputy Collector Sumit Dhruv, former examination controller Arti Wasnik, Deputy Collector Misha Kosle, and District Excise Officer Deepa Adil. This move is part of the agency's efforts to unravel a larger conspiracy involving alleged irregularities in the examination process.
The CBI's investigation, which began last year, accuses former CGPSC chairman Taman Singh Sonwani and other officials of manipulating examination outcomes to favor their family members. Of the 1,29,206 candidates who took the preliminary exams, only 2,548 advanced, with 170 eventually securing positions. The revelation has resulted in arrests and ongoing judicial proceedings.
