The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) made a significant narcotics bust at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, uncovering 12 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis worth an estimated Rs 12 crore.
The seizure took place following the interception of an Indian passenger traveling from Dubai. A thorough inspection of her luggage revealed packets containing six kilograms of the greenish substance. Subsequent testing confirmed the material as cannabis. Investigators also examined another bag, initially declared as misplaced by the passenger, to find an additional six kilograms of cannabis.
The DRI has arrested the woman under the NDPS Act. Hydroponics refers to a method of cultivating plants using nutrient-enriched water as opposed to traditional soil-based agriculture.
