In a sweeping crackdown dubbed 'Operation Aaghat,' Delhi Police have arrested 70 individuals and confiscated firearms, narcotics, illicit liquor, and stolen property in the city's southeast district, according to officials. The operation took place on Friday and resulted in significant seizures, enhancing community safety.
During the operation, authorities recovered 14 country-made pistols, one sophisticated pistol, 24 cartridges, and 16 knives, leading to the arrest of 28 people. Additionally, 6,338 quarters of illicit liquor were seized, and 13 related arrests were made, law enforcement sources disclosed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari emphasized that this initiative also captured nine individuals involved in narcotics activities. Seizures included substantial amounts of ganja, heroin, and MDMA. Preventive measures were further enforced under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Delhi Police Act, he noted.
