An individual alleged to be involved in criminal activities has been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, as reported by authorities on Tuesday.

The detainee, Sharafat Ali of Lohai-Malhar, was apprehended and lodged at the district jail in Udhampur. His detention followed the preparation of a dossier indicating his involvement in numerous illegal acts over the years, warranting action under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Meanwhile, in a related crackdown, law enforcement arrested two individuals — Abhinandan Singh and Amit Sangra — linked to drug peddling activities in Kootah village. Authorities seized 5.47 grams of heroin from their possession, leading to their booking under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigations are underway to trace their narcotic supply networks.
