Fresh waves of monsoon deluge wreaked havoc in the Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh overnight, exacerbating the aftermath of recent natural disasters in the area.
Both states endured a chaotic scene as heavy rains brought fatal landslides, flash floods, and impossible roads. In Uttarakhand, at least 15 people perished, 16 remain missing, and many more are stranded. Meanwhile, calamity struck a household's members in Himachal where flooding tragically killed three.
Authorities have mobilized emergency response teams, despite persistent inclement conditions, to rescue those trapped by the surging waters. Local and federal departments have promised aid, while meteorological insights explain the unusual extremity this monsoon season.
