Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has leveled criticism against Central ministers, accusing them of exploiting visits to rain-affected regions for political gains rather than providing tangible assistance. Sukhu insisted that they should announce relief packages from their ministries to genuinely aid those in distress.

Union ministers such as Shantanu Thakur, Savitri Thakur, and Ajay Tamta have toured disaster-impacted areas, resulting in tensions with the state government over relief efforts. Amid this backdrop, the monsoon's wrath has claimed 236 lives and caused infrastructure losses amounting to Rs 4,582 crore.

According to officials, the financial aid under the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) of 2023 was merely Rs 400 crore against an expected Rs 1,500 crore. Sukhu called for the Prime Minister to release a special financial package, emphasizing that Himachal Pradesh requires urgent and substantial support to recover from this year's extraordinary monsoon devastation.
