Kremlin Echoes Commitment to Peace Amid Military Enhancements

The Kremlin announced on Wednesday its continued efforts to strengthen Russia's military as a response to remarks made by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who emphasized preparing for war as a means to secure peace. Despite this military focus, the Kremlin maintains its dedication to peaceful resolutions.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserted the country's commitment to resolving conflicts, including the Ukrainian crisis, through diplomatic negotiations. This stance aligns with comments from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who expressed willingness to regain territory through non-military means.

However, Peskov pointed out a pause in negotiations with Ukraine, noting Kyiv's alleged reluctance to resume talks amid accusations that Moscow is demanding conditions tantamount to surrender.
