YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday for allegedly neglecting state interests following Karnataka's decision to increase the Almatti Dam's height.
Reddy highlighted that the Karnataka Cabinet recently approved plans to raise the dam's height from 519 meters to 524.2 meters, doubling its water storage capacity to 280 TMC. This expansion poses a significant threat to Andhra Pradesh's irrigation and drinking water supplies, Reddy claimed.
The opposition leader accused Naidu of failing to safeguard Andhra Pradesh's rights, questioning his capability to serve as chief minister. Reddy urged Naidu to take immediate steps to counter Karnataka's plans and effectively represent the state's concerns at the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal II.
