French Police Arrest Key Figures of Russia's Shadow Fleet Tanker

In a dramatic move against Russia's alleged shadow fleet, French police have apprehended the captain and first officer of the Boracay, a sanctioned tanker. The vessel is suspected of involvement in recent drone activities near Denmark, leading authorities to take action.

The Boracay, around 50 nautical miles south of Copenhagen on September 22, became a focal point when drone intrusions influenced the temporary shutdown of Copenhagen's airport. Later, it was seen moving along Denmark's western coast amidst more drone sightings near Esbjerg.

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu praised the navy's intervention, which facilitated the arrests. Brest Prosecutor Stephane Kellenberger confirmed the detainees' roles on the ship, citing non-compliance with nationality and procedure protocols. As France and Denmark continue investigations, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of addressing Russia's shadow fleet activities.
