In Ladakh, pressure mounts for a judicial investigation following recent violence that claimed four lives and injured many. On Thursday, influential Buddhist groups and the Kargil Bar Association renewed their demand for accountability.
Despite Leh nearing normalcy with relaxed curfew measures, tensions remain high as 26 detained individuals have been released, yet scores are still in custody. The Ladakh Buddhist Association honored those killed and pledged support for a judicial inquiry into police actions.
Groups demand the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk and urge the end of local youth harassment. Meanwhile, the Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance refuse government talks until demands are addressed, backed by a strike from the Kargil Bar Association seeking justice for victims.
