In an assertive move, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami declared that the state has reclaimed approximately 9,000 acres of government land from what he termed 'land jihad mafias'. These entities had allegedly seized the properties under religious pretenses.

Speaking at the anniversary of the Rampur Tiraha incident, which marks the fight for Uttarakhand's statehood, Dhami described heroic efforts in dismantling illegal religious structures, including 550 mazars and two mosques, and closing down 250 unauthorized madrasas.

The chief minister announced that the state madrasa board is abolished and a new law will be introduced on January 26 to align madrasas under a standardized system with an updated syllabus, reflecting his government's commitment to the development and integrity of Uttarakhand.
