The government is stepping up its efforts to regulate the burgeoning online money gaming industry, proposing stringent measures to curb violations. The draft rules, released Thursday, classify breaches as non-bailable offences and place entire company staff under scrutiny for facilitation.

Under these proposed amendments, any authorised officer would be empowered to enter any location—physical or digital—to conduct searches and make arrests without a warrant. The legislation under discussion, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming (PROG) Act 2025, details these legal enhancements.

Sections 5 and 7 of the draft specifically outlaw the creation and support of online money gaming services and financial transactions related to these activities. IT Ministry seeks public feedback on the proposals by October 31, further tightening the legislative framework against online money gaming in the nation.
