In a significant milestone, India on Friday was named the fifth country to receive the prestigious International Social Security Association (ISSA) award, as confirmed in an official statement by the Ministry of Labour & Employment.
This commendation, bestowed every three years at the World Social Security Forum, celebrates India's outstanding contributions in the realm of social security, marking a leap in social protection coverage from 19% in 2015 to an impressive 64.3% in 2025.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya accepted the award in Kuala Lumpur, heralding it as a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inclusive vision, which has been pivotal in transforming the nation's social security landscape through policy, process, and digital advancements.
