An employee of the Thrissur Corporation has been apprehended following a failed burglary at a Kuriachira jewellery store. The suspect, Jinto, 24, worked on a temporary basis with the electrical department.

According to officials, Jinto's attempted heist was thwarted when the shop's security alarm was triggered around 4:15 a.m., alerting the owner and police to his presence. This incident follows a previous unsuccessful ATM burglary attempt by the same individual.

Under financial duress due to an outstanding Rs 5 lakh loan, Jinto allegedly broke into Akkara Jewellery out of desperation for money. A police case has been filed against him per sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
