Eswatini is set to receive an additional 11 deportees from the United States this month, following an earlier group of five received in July. While the government has made arrangements for their stay, specifics about their arrival remain unreleased.
This move is part of former President Donald Trump's efforts to increase deportations, especially to third countries. The first deportees to Eswatini included individuals from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba, and Yemen, with repatriations already underway for some.
However, the agreement between Eswatini and the Trump administration has not been fully disclosed, drawing criticism and legal challenges from activists concerned about the treatment and legalities surrounding the deportees' confinement.
