Shoe-Throwing Incident Sparks Outcry at Supreme Court

A dramatic incident unfolded at the Supreme Court on Monday when a lawyer allegedly tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B R Gavai during court proceedings. The act has sparked calls for widespread condemnation, most notably from Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, who criticized the silence of top government officials.

Kishor Rakesh, the 71-year-old lawyer involved in the incident, reportedly approached the dais, removed his shoe, and attempted to hurl it towards the bench. Chief Justice Gavai, however, remained composed and unaffected, continuing with the hearing of cases.

This shocking breach of courtroom decorum has raised concerns about respect for judicial authority. Sibal expressed disappointment with the lack of response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, emphasizing the importance of condemning such uncivilized behavior.
