Texas Tragedy: Indian Student Killed at Fort Worth Gas Station

A 23-year-old Texas resident is in custody following the shocking murder of an Indian student at a Fort Worth gas station. The incident, which took place on Friday night, has left the local Indian-American community reeling.

Richard Florez, identified as the suspect, allegedly shot 28-year-old Chandrashekar Pole while he was working a part-time shift. Florez subsequently fled the scene, reportedly fired at another vehicle without causing injury, and crashed his car into a gate before attempting to enter a nearby residence. Police arrested him shortly after and recovered a firearm from his vehicle.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting. Meanwhile, the Consulate General of India in Houston is assisting Chandrashekar's family with repatriating his remains to India. The incident has sparked renewed concerns about the safety of international students working part-time jobs, particularly amid recent violence targeting Indian nationals in the U.S.
