Nashik city recorded a disturbing series of events, with three murders occurring within a span of 24 hours, as reported by officials on Wednesday. The grim happenings highlight underlying social issues tied to substance abuse and mental health.

The first incident unfolded in Old Satpur Colony, where 60-year-old Mangala Gawali was tragically killed by her son, Swapnil. Authorities disclosed that this act of violence was fueled by his dependence on alcohol after she refused to give him money.

In another unsettling case in the Bhagva Chowk area, Arvind Patil, 57, who suffers from mental health problems, strangled his 85-year-old mother, Yashodabai. Subsequently, he went to the Nashik Road police station to report his actions. The third murder involved a fatal attack on 40-year-old Amol Shankarrao Meshram, over a property dispute, by a duo involving a minor and 21-year-old Kunal Saude.
