Scandal at Hazaribag Central Jail: Suspensions Amid Irregularities

In a significant crackdown, the jailor and five wardens at Hazaribag Central Jail have been suspended over allegations of irregularities. Official sources revealed the action was prompted by reports that the staff were providing special privileges to Vinay Kumar Singh, an influential prisoner involved in the Khasmahal land scam.
Following these revelations, Inspector General (Jail) Sudarshan Mandal ordered the suspensions, while six ex-army personnel working on contract were also removed. Superintendent Jitendra Singh confirmed these developments and stated that the jail's main gate has been secured, and round-the-clock security has been deployed.
The controversy erupted when Singh, a key figure in the land scam, allegedly sent a message to the state government about poor jail conditions using a phone. This incident raised concerns over how he accessed such communication facilities, leading to a detailed investigation by the authorities.
