The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking a Special Investigation Team, led by a former judge, to probe allegations of electoral roll manipulations in Bengaluru Central and other constituencies.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi directed the petitioner to address their concerns with the Election Commission of India. They remarked, 'After considering the petitioner's arguments, we find no grounds to entertain this public interest petition. The petitioner is advised to take the matter up with the ECI.'
Counsel Rohit Pandey argued that a representation was already submitted to the poll panel but hasn't been acknowledged. Additionally, the plea referenced a press conference by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, where he claimed a 'huge criminal fraud' occurred in polls through alleged collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission, citing it as 'vote theft'.
