Massive Seizures Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
Ahead of Tamil Nadu's Assembly elections on April 23, surveillance teams have confiscated over 1,200 crore worth of cash, gold, silver, liquor, and drugs. CEO Archana Patnaik reported extensive monitoring by authorities, resulting in significant seizures to ensure fair elections. Dry days and security measures have been implemented for election integrity.

Amid strict surveillance ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, state authorities have seized assets worth over 1,200 crore. CEO Archana Patnaik disclosed that cash, gold, silver, liquor, and narcotics were among the confiscated items.
As of April 20, enforcement teams active in all constituencies had secured 169.85 crore in cash and assets including precious metals worth Rs 650.87 crore. Various goods intended as electoral bribes, valued at Rs 306.34 crore, and drugs worth Rs 82.73 crore, were also seized.
In an effort to maintain election integrity, the Election Commission appointed numerous observers and allocated extensive police resources. Measures including dry days in Tamil Nadu and adjacent areas were announced to ensure orderly conduct during polls and counting.
