Health officials in Gaza reported fatalities in different incidents throughout the day, complicating efforts to stabilize the region in the wake of a fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire.
The ceasefire, signed last October, aimed to end two years of war between Israel and Hamas. However, its progress has stalled, particularly concerning the disarmament of Hamas and the retraction of Israeli forces. Over 750 Palestinians have died since its inception, while Israel cites the loss of four soldiers to militant attacks.
On the ground, violence escalated as an Israeli-backed militia clashed with Hamas fighters near Khan Younis. Video evidence showed the militia crossing into Hamas territory, leading to a firefight. Hamas accused the militia of endangering civilians, exacerbating tensions in an already fragile Gaza Strip.
