BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has taken legal action against a company and a Maharashtra Pollution Control Board official, citing severe pollution in Chandrapur district. The complaint, filed at Ramnagar police station, highlights the detrimental impact of coal washeries on agriculture in Belsani village.
Mungantiwar, alongside farmers, accuses the company of causing significant environmental harm since 2024, leading to crop damage and threats to local health and livestock. Despite a government committee assessing compensation of over Rs 68 lakh, the company has yet to reimburse affected farmers.
Allegations also target the MPCB regional officer for failing in his duties by not initiating compensation recovery, prompting the demand for accountability and corrective action against both parties involved.
