In a significant legal development, a man has been booked for allegedly pronouncing triple talaq to his wife over a mobile phone, police reported on Tuesday in Rasra town.
The complaint was filed by 19-year-old Shabina Khatoon, who claims her husband, Parvez Alam alias Rinku, from Chak Kalandar Chakia village, committed this act after their marriage under Muslim rituals in March 2022.
The FIR, citing sections of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, marks a pivotal step against instant talaq practices. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rasra) Alok Gupta confirmed an ongoing investigation.
