Bribery Bust: Engineer Falls in Solar Project Scandal

An assistant engineer at the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), Komal Shinde, was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the MSEDCL office in Ashti, as part of an operation to tackle corruption in state projects.

Shinde had reportedly demanded Rs 19,000 as a bribe to approve a solar power project. Unwilling to comply, the individual who was asked for the bribe contacted the authorities, prompting a carefully orchestrated sting operation by the ACB that led to Shinde's arrest at the scene.

The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to eradicate graft in public sector undertakings, particularly those involved with green energy initiatives. The case against Shinde is still under investigation as authorities seek to uncover further details and potential corruption within the department.
