The National Commission for Women has expressed grave concerns following the horrific gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai district. The commission has demanded a detailed report from the police within five days, emphasizing the urgent need for better protective measures for young girls.

The crime, which has sparked outrage, prompted the NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar to instruct the Tamil Nadu DGP to ensure the immediate arrest of all suspects and the registration of an FIR under relevant laws. Rahatkar also called for a swift, thorough investigation and comprehensive support for the victim and her family.

Political figures have criticized the DMK government's handling of women's safety issues. AIADMK and BJP leaders voiced their demands for justice, blaming the ruling party for increasing crime rates and vowing to reinforce law and order if they return to power.
