In a decisive move, authorities in Maharashtra's Nanded district have penalized 17 vendors for the unlawful sale of tobacco products near a revered gurdwara.
The district-level tobacco control team acted upon numerous complaints citing breaches of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.
Surprise inspections at various locations led to the imposition of fines summing up to Rs 8,300 on those found guilty of violations.
