Inmates across various prisons in Uttar Pradesh have achieved outstanding results in the state board examinations, showcasing a notable 98.53% pass rate in high school and 83.44% in intermediate levels, officials revealed. The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education released data on Thursday highlighting these accomplishments.
A total of 68 inmates from 30 jails participated in the high school exams, with 67 successfully passing. Bareilly, Agra, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad jails led the numbers, with inmates clearing the boards commendably. The intermediate results also reflected significant academic drive, as 135 inmates appeared, resulting in 114 successful candidates.
Special examination centers were set up within prison premises by the state's education and jail departments to facilitate this educational progress among inmates, signaling a commitment to reform and rehabilitation through education.
