In a move addressing alleged negligence, officials in Jammu and Kashmir have been suspended in separate incidents within the Samba and Doda districts. Both cases are now subject to further investigation.
In Samba, Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Soodan took action against Pankaj Singh Jamwal, a revenue official. Jamwal was suspended due to his failure to digitize crucial land records, despite clear instructions. The tehsildar reported that the mandated 'jamabandis' were left undigitized within the specified period. This lapse in duty prompted immediate suspension, pending an inquiry led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Vijaypur, who is expected to submit findings within 15 days.
Meanwhile, in Doda, a forest department beat guard, Mushtaq Ahmed, was suspended following the discovery of illegal deodar timber transportation. A vehicle carrying 20 green scants of deodar was intercepted by forest authorities, revealing a suspicious link to Ahmed, who was found traveling the same route with potential evidence. A detailed probe has been launched to trace the timber's origin and hold accountable parties involved.
