An 11-year-old boy was discovered dead at a residential gurukul in Lucknow, reportedly with multiple injury marks, according to police on Friday. Two individuals, Saurabh Mishra, 27, the gurukul operator, and his associate Harshita Soni, 23, have been detained, charged with murder and evidence destruction.
Divyansh Dwivedi, also known as Deepu, was admitted to the gurukul for free Vedic education. When informed of his death, the family was told he had fallen from a staircase. However, allegations of brutal physical abuse emerged, with sources citing 'dozens of injury marks'.
The police have launched an investigation, with initial findings indicating the boy may have been beaten and confined in poor conditions, exacerbated by heat. This incident has spurred protests in his village, with demands for justice and compensation. Further investigations are ongoing.
