In a dramatic turn of events, a rape accused named Jalaluddin was injured and re-arrested by authorities after escaping custody in Prayagraj, as confirmed by police on Saturday.
Jalaluddin faced serious allegations, including the rape of a two-year-old girl. After initially being apprehended under the POCSO Act, he feigned illness, which resulted in his transfer to a hospital from where he fled, eluding his escorts.
Police captured him following an encounter in Pratapgarh where shots were exchanged, leading to Jalaluddin's injury. Authorities retrieved an illegal firearm during his capture. He now remains under police surveillance in medical care as investigations proceed.
